Various levels of hot...

There are various levels of heat.

There's a hot pocket fresh out of the microwave hot.

There's my hormonal self, sweating in the middle of winter hot.

There's nuclear fission hot.

And then there's days like today. Not just hot. Out of my mind hot. Right now, it is 101. That's just wrong.

We went to the pool with some friends today. (Thanks for the invite!) The kids had a blast. The mommies even got in for a bit. Let's call it like it is, sweat underneath certain body parts is just messed up. Ick. The cool water was nice and it wasn't very crowded today. I would imagine that most sane people stayed inside in the a/c.

Oh - - another level of hot - - the inside of any vehicle that's been sitting out in said 101 degree heat. Now *that's* hot. Yikes.

I just hope I don't get a headache. That would not be cool. Seriously. No play on words. It would be totally un-cool.

BTW - - my coffee was divine this morning. I even went and got the van washed while I was out. In my jammies. It was one of those drive-through thingies. Now it's so bright and shiny!

Okay - - enough. I need a shower to get the chlorine and sweat stank off of me.

Bad cook

I can't even boil eggs. I have to ask the Mister how to do it *every* time. He told me to boil them for ten minutes. I was afraid that I didn't have the temperature up high enough - - so when the buzzer went off at ten minutes, I decided to let them cook a little longer. I didn't set the timer. Who'd forget they were in there cooking? That's right. Me. I forgot. They boiled for an hour and a half. Yeah - - they were done.

I think this blonde moment is courtesy of my new highlights. That's what I'm claiming anyway.

I've tried to be a better cook over the past couple of weeks. I've been using several different Taste of Home cookbooks. Actually, most of them have turned out pretty well. I was tired of the same 'ole, same 'ole around here. New is good. This week, we are using the Comfort Food, diet one. I've got a great menu for tomorrow night. The Mister gets a massage at 5:00 and I'm going to have a nice dinner waiting when he gets home. Yay me!!

That's enough for now. It's 10:14 and I haven't had any coffee yet. I must remedy that right now. That is entirely unacceptable. Oh, oh! I am going to load all of us up in our jammies (still) and go to Starbucks. I haven't had one in a couple of weeks. I deserve it. I'll let you know how it was.

The last report....

I unloaded and re-loaded the dishwasher, took the trash out, started soaking the trash can (I don't know *what* that is stuck in the bottom of it - - the bag must have leaked) and I emptied the litter box and put fresh cat litter in it. Today was an icky cleaning day.

I'm going to grab a shower and then fold some clothes.

My reward, you ask? I'm going to do some guilt-free scrapbooking. Right here in my house at my work table. I need to re-load some fonts onto my computer - - just in case I get the urge to journal.

By the way - - I will probably clean the shower while I'm in there. It's easiest to do that way. Anyone else do that?

Another 20 - - the results

More picking up. Mostly stuff on my dresser and in the corner chair of my room.

I also emptied the reservoir tank on our floormate. (Ick. That should always be done right after it's been used. I can't overstate that fact.) I put some water and a little Pine-Sol in it to freshen it up a bit. Ahhhh - - the clean fresh scent of pine. (Mom - - I swear, if you say *one* word about smelling the real pine, I won't be your friend anymore.)

A task I wasn't counting on - - taping back together the Connect Four box lid. Pre-schoolers. The world is their romping room. I had some issues with the packing tape. It's done now and the game is back in its home.

Whew...

Okay, I picked up toys and stuff in the living room, cleaned off my bathroom counter top, cleaned it and both of our sinks, plus the mirror in there. I did the same thing in the kid's bathroom. Plus their toilet. Ick. I also dusted the television and entertainment center.

Welcome Home, HP. Welcome Home!

That's right friends and neighbors. My laptop arrived back in West Texas yesterday. And I'm happy to report that it is functioning properly.

Yes - - life is just fantabulous.

Another tidbit from yesterday.

I was an hour early for my hair appointment. Not on purpose. I wrote the time down wrong or something. So - - I offered to make a run down to McAllister's for my stylist and good friend. She accepted with a big smile. I waited in line at McA's *forever.* When I was finally helped by Ms. Snarky, she barely spoke two words to me. I was, at this point, nearly late getting back for my appointment. So, I grabbed my change, stuffed it in my pocket and went on my merry way.

After my hair appointment, I looked at the change she'd given me and realized she shorted me $5. I gave her a twenty dollar bill and she gave me two fives, a one and some change. And no receipt. Crap.

I called down to the store and finally got a hold of the manager. He agreed to give me my $5. Just on merit. I'd just have to drive back down there to get it. He said he wouldn't be there, but he'd tell the night manager to expect me. He lied. She knew nothing of it and was actually quite suspicious. Ms. Snarky was still there and I pointed her out. She didn't have pretty looks for me. Or an apology. They were actually pretty hateful. So - - I might be taking a hiatus from the sweet teas for a spell. I don't need them anyway.

We are home for the day today. No plans to go anywhere. Yesterday was enough for me.

I'm going to do some of those 20 minute cleaning challenges this afternoon. Be watching my posts to see what I get accomplished. As if you care. *giggle* It's mostly accountability for me. But feel free to join in if you like. Let me know what *you* get done in twenty. It should be some good times.

Help...

This is me today. My luck has just sucked lately. The good news is that my eye isn't pink. I don't think I ever had pink eye. I must have just gotten something in my eye. It *was* pink. I guess I jumped the gun on that one. My head though - - oye. It's better now because I went and got an injection for it. (Mom - - thanks for watching the boys this morning!) So for all of you that sent me e-mails today - - I'm not ignoring you. I'm just loopy. Back to bed.

MY EYE!!!

Where in the heck did I get pink eye? I can't blame it on my children, they don't have it. My best guess is either the shopping cart at Target or at the movies. (I took the kids to see Space Chimps.) You can't touch freakin' anything anymore.

I feel like such trash. I hate the pink eye. It burns and it itches. And - - it's costly. Buh-bye eye makeup.

Gross. Just - - gross.

What am I doing????

Right now, I'm taking a break. I took on a project of ginormous proportions today.

Why am I caving to a request of the Misters? Probably selfishness. I'll get more space. Here's the deal:

*Most* of my scrapbooking supplies have been tucked away in the entrance hall. My closet just isn't large enough and let's face it, it's pretty messy itself. And if you scrapbook, you totally get needing to have enough space for your goods.

The mister has complained, on several occasions, that he wants the entrance hall back. For coats (because it's so cold here in West Texas), the vacuum cleaner and the steam cleaner. It makes sense to keep those things there. But where am I supposed to put my stuff? The first time he threw this at me, I countered that if he would build me space equal to that of his shop in the backyard, we'd be cool. He dropped it.

Lately, it's begun to come up again. He suggested using Cam's closet. It needs cleaning out anyway. So, instead of discussing it anymore, I'm doing it. Cam and I are going to share his closet. It will, from now on, be locked.

Last night, I began removing things off of my shelf. The culling began. It was out of control. Most of it is in the entrance hall. Thank goodness the kids have left it alone.

On to Cam's closet. Ugh. Major culling of the clothes. And junk. I filled one black trash bag full of clothes to give away. The other trash bag is full of, well, trash. I'm nearly done with his closet now. Then I shall begin the move-in of my supplies. I hope I don't regret this. I'll post pictures when I'm all done.

Can I just go on record as saying that I completely resent any friend (or anyone for that matter) that has an entire room devoted to their craft? I want my own room. I want to set my table up and be able to leave stuff out on it. I want to be more free to just go scrap whenever I get the inclination to do so. I'm living in a fantasy world. We'd need to move for that to happen. Hmmmm...

My laptop came back today. Record timing. I guess so - - since they didn't freakin' fix it. The service ticket says they did. Filthy liars. Same problem. The mister called tech support. They are going to send us another box for us to send it back again. I can't freakin' belive it.

I need some sort of intervention here. What do you use? Know anyone with goofy ears that can't find the right kind of headphones? A little help would be nice.

The mister and I watched it tonight. I loved it. Sure it was corny. But cute. And it had a story I could follow. And they actually followed it. Besides, rarely did Matthew McConaughey have a shirt on. You can't go wrong there. (And don't think about going off on his whole "au naturale" thing. I don't care. The man looks mighty fine. I'll bet he smells great, too.)

It's a disaster of Wii proportions.

It's broken. AAAACCCCKKKK!!!!! It's under warranty. Thank goodness. But now we have to wait. Wait for the UPS label to get here. Us to ship it. Them to fix it. And then ship it back to us. Crap, crap and double crap.

It won't read discs. Major suckage.

Oh - - yeah - - Justin's DS broke on the same day. Is God trying to tell me something? If the x-box breaks - - I'm stepping out of the way.

I miss Mario Kart.

Mamma Mia!

It was FABULOUS!!! The theater was packed. I was afraid I was going to have to sit on one of the first two rows. Whew. Some people bumped down and I was able to sit with my friend.

I wanted to sing and dance during the movie. I *will* go back to the theater to see it again. Know that!!

Pierce Brosnan - - he can't really sing. But yummy. I sure enjoyed looking at him. It really shows my age a little. The two "young 'uns" in front of me were totally icked out during one part where he is kissing. Me? Wishing it was *me* he was kissing. Ooh la la!!

Great mother/daughter movie. No - - I won't be getting one of those. No daughters here. Sometimes I think I'm really going to miss out. I won't miss the *drama* of girls. But - - the relationship in general. *sigh* It's okay - - my boys love me. And I'm training them to marry awesome women who will let me love them like a daughter. I will *rock* as a mother-in-law. After I scare the ever-livin' out of them first. Of course. *giggle*

Time for a movie with the mister. I think we are finally going to watch Fool's Gold. Can you believe I haven't seen it yet? Nobody tell Matthew. Then I might not have a chance with him if I bump into him at Wal-Mart. You know - - 'cause that's all that would hold him back from me...

Bras and Their Straps

When did this become such the "in" thing to do? Just let your bra strap show. It's actually part of the ensemble.

I have gone to pain-staking lengths, my entire life, to keep them hidden. Afterall, who wants to see my big, ole, thick Dolly Parton looking straps anyway? The days of the spaghetti straps left with, uh, let's see, fourth grade. Fourth grade was when my "bumps" arrived. I considered it a curse. I hated them. Always. I couldn't run worth a flip (because of the flopping) and I just hurt all the time. Not too many fourth graders wore bras. And believe me, while mine was hidden, it was still noticed.

High school was a nightmare! That's all I'll say about that.

Finally, after college, I went to the plastic surgeon and had them reduced. A lot!

I say all of that to tell you that to this day, I still won't flaunt the straps. Just - - ewwwww. Maybe I'm a little prudish about that. I don't care. Just someone please tell me when it became so cool to show them? Do they need to prove to the outside world that they are grown up enough to wear a bra now? Or perhaps they like showing off the conflicting colors. You got me.

Either way - - this chick is content to keep the straps under the shirt.

I just had to get that off of my chest... *giggle*

Health Update

Not much to report really. The doctor wants me to have a HIDA scan done. It is scheduled for Friday. It will check gallbladder function. I probably won't know the results of it until Monday or Tuesday. The good news is that I'm not getting nearly as nauseated after meals now. The pain and tenderness are still there. So I know something is up. Just - - what? As my Uncle Charlie says, "Time will tell..." How true that is.

My little Moe-Moe. *sigh* I just picked him up from the vet. He was neutered and de-clawed yesterday. He had to spend the night in the hospital. Poor little man. He appears to be doing great. He even has his own little kitty drugs for the pain. The vet asked the mister yesterday if we wanted to buy them. He sighed and said yes. He knew that Moe's Mommy would want him comfy while he recovers. Well, um, yeah. Let's chop *your* nuts off and rip all of your fingernails out and do it without any drugs. He didn't hesitate. As much as he protested a third kitty - - I know he loves Moe. The mister *really* has a soft spot for animals. I love that about him.

i love little surprise visits!!!!!

Tonight's visit was so refreshing. I loved it. I needed it. I love how we can be gone apart forever and just *bam* pick up right where we left off. Just know that I love my girls and I love our time together. I wouldn' trade it for anything else out there.

Lots to do...

...as always. Lucky for me, Oceans 13 is on right now and I can watch it while I fold laundry. I'm trying to get all of my ducks in a row. Just in case. You never know what the surgeon will say. I honestly don't expect anything to happen soon. But - - I'm also not trained in the medical field. I don't know if we are looking at "let's do this this week," or it's more of a "in a few months, it will eventually need to come out" kind of thing. I just don't know. So basically, my life is on hold until I visit with my doctor Monday afternoon.

I broke the stupid cord on my ear buds. Son of a Bang if they weren't the *perfect* ones for me. Crap, crap and double crap.

My laptop is about to be sent back to HP for its repairs. Remember, I'm one of the seven who would experience a problem with this *known* defect. I wonder how long the entire process will take.

So basically, it hasn't really been a banner week for me as far as technology is considered. It'll get done and I'll survive. What I can't promise though, is that there won't be any griping and complaining along the way. You all know that sarcasm is my native tongue, so... Be ye warned.

Broken

My laptop. Apparently there is some kind of recall on some of the HP's. Mine is one of them. I learned of this the hard way. I saw the recall notice a few weeks ago and just assumed that I had lucked out and avoided the problem. I understand that one in seven will experience the malfunction. We all know how my luck runs these days. So now - - Justin has a computer in his room, the mister has his pc and his company laptop. I have a laptop but zilch as far as networking goes.

Great. Real nice and great.

By the way - - I gave the finger to my digestive system tonight. I ate some taco meat and some fat free refried beans. (I took a phen first.) I'm not near as nauseous as I would have been sans the meds. Have I mentioned that this bites?

Okay - - the mister is home from the grocery store. I'm hoping he has some cantaloupe for me. It and saltines are like the only things I can eat. I need to get that bad boy cut up and refrigerated. (I hate cutting up cantaloupe.)

I sound really pathetic tonight. I'm outta here.

Laptop is sick

My laptop is not working right. The wireless connection isn't working. I can't hit the internet or check e-mail. So - - don't think I'm ignoring you today. I'm just technologically set back today.

That bites, huh? I guess I should do some housework or something. You know, take advantage of this new found freedom.

I'm going to try to stay away from the phen's today so that I can stay awake. Yikes - - that stuff is vicious.

The good, the bad and the huh?

I saw the doctor today. He is pretty sure that it is my gall bladder that is giving me trouble. The good news is that the sonogram didn't show any gall stones. That's also the "huh?"

His office made an appointment for me with a surgeon. I see him on Monday afternoon. I'm sure I'll have more tests. Even though there are no stones, my gall bladder can still be bad. Or so I understand. What I do know is that I can't eat most foods without getting incredibly nauseated. Still. I can take phenergan for the nausea but it kicks my butt. Talk about making you sleep. Wowzers. I tolerated some crackers today. That was nice. I got bold and tried some grilled chicken with some plain white rice tonight. No dice. Ugh. I popped another pill so basically, I am short for this world for another day. I'm about to hit the hay.

The bad news. I know, thought that was it, huh? You guys are all going to have to do Grease without me. I have no idea what the surgeon will say or do on Monday. I could be completely out of commission on Thursday. I just don't know. So go ahead and make your plans. Have a wonderful time. And miss me. (*sigh*) I know I'll miss hanging out with my buddies.

If you would, please pray for me. If it is God's plan, I would love to be healed from whatever it is that has taken over me. I know God can heal it and make me whole again. If not - - may He be glorified somehow through this. I really, really feel that way.

Ouch...

Okay, okay. I'm so sorry. Nothing like getting griped out by my fans. *wink*

I'll shoot straight 'wit ya. I haven't felt too bueno in the last 24 hours. Every time I eat, I get really nauseated. No fever. No nasty poo. Just really, really nauseated. And you know I haven't puked. I don't like what I read about it. The internet is a frightening place when you google symptoms of stuff. Especially when you can be somewhat of a hypochondriac. I called my doctor. He was gone for the day but his nurse was still there. She asked me several questions. Then she asked me whether or not I still had my gall bladder. (Yeah - - that's what I googled. Oh great. As if I don't have enough ailments.) Long story short - - I see the doctor at 9:15 in the morning.

Now - - my new Bible study. Interesting. It addresses illness. And healing. Today was my first day. I enjoyed it. The verse for this week: Matthew 6:34. Worry. Don't do it. (Easy to say, hard to do.) The study talks about stress and illness. Then it talks about how that can affect your spiritual health. I *so* need this right now.

Time for Some Quality Chick Time!!! It's Grease! - - Seriously. Who is in? We need to get tickets. Like - - today. It may be nearly impossible to pick a date when we can all go at the same time. (Ugh.) I called ACT today and they said that the show runs this weekend through August 2nd. It is at 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays - Saturdays. The Friday nights for the next two weekends are pretty full. I also already have plans the 25th. So that basically leaves that Friday out, too. With that in mind - - what date sounds good? I have a nom or two for the 17th. That's a Thursday. I'm not opposed to a Saturday showing. I also don't mind Sunday afternoon. There are two of those. One on the 20th and one on the 27th. Those are at 2:00 p.m. The show is approximately two hours. The tickets are $15. Let's go. Who is in? Call me TODAY!!! I *will* go without you and then shamelessly tell you have awesome it was...

Okay - - I'm going to *try* to nibble on a cracker and then go to bed. I'll check in with you peeps tomorrow. I should be home late morning. Say a prayer for me if you would...

Fresh Bread

So - - I dusted off the bread maker, tossed the ingredients inside and...

it smells so good in this house right now!!

I'll let you know how it tastes later. I can't wait. Hot, fresh, French bread.

(It smelled bad in here before. That's the main reason I did it. Husband fried some potatoes and some zucchini last night. That oil smell just wouldn't go away. It was making me sick. Now it smells so much better in here.)

The Five Parts of the DOI...

I hadn't read it in years. I found it boring in high school. Surprisingly fascinating as a "grown up." Go read it. Cool stuff.

Hi.

I've been *really* busy this week. Lots of family stuff.

Spotsy (Cameron) celebrated his 3rd birthday on Tuesday. It was nice. We are having a little party thang on Friday afternoon. The Mister's parents will be here later today. The Mister's sister was here Tuesday and Wednesday. On top of all of that, Baby Bro is in town all by his lonesome.

So - - I've been quite the family girl. And it ain't over yet.

I'm bummed because I missed the first week of my Bible Study. It couldn't be helped though. My sister in law hasn't been in town since Spots was a baby. And she was only here for less than 24 hours. I couldn't just ditch her. And I didn't really want to, either. With that said - - I can't give a good review of the first week. Be looking for a tidbit from me next week though.

What I can do is give you a movie review! Night at the Museum. I am SICK that I didn't watch this movie sooner. I LOVED it!! Why, why WHY didn't I watch it before? I love Ben Stiller! I love that he is always the victim. I loved how cute and unrealistic this movie was. This is one of those that if I saw it on again when I was channel surfing - - I would *so* stop on it and watch it again in a heartbeat. I was tempted to watch it again with Justin today. It was mindless and cute. I love just being able to giggle my way through a movie and not have to think. B's rating: Very strong "A."

Anyone watching Y & R? *gasp, gasp, gasp* Can you freakin' believe what is going on? The killer of Ji Min was finally revealed. It's about stinkin' time! Good stuff there.

Okay. Some of you are drifting out of sight. Bananas - - you still there? I have a new cropping story for you. You thought the last one I told you made you laugh. Wait 'til you hear this one. Let me put it this way - - I totally didn't learn my lesson. Big time. :-O

This time I didn't even realize I was doing it. And it wasn't a "full-on look" either. I wasn't trying to be rude.

But hello....

If you are going to get your skanky-self knocked up - - could you lay of the cigs for the duration of your pregnancy please?

I didn't know I got caught. My SIL said I did. Preggo made a snarky comment to her toddler (as if he even understood her sarcasm) not to grow up and give dirty looks to people. SIL heard her say it. I'm sure it was meant to be overheard. Since, well, you know, toddler wouldn't have understood the underlying meaning anyway.

Oh how I wish I'd heard her say that. I was itching for a sermon on the dangers of smoking while being pregnant. I'm one for mind your own business and all. But when it involves a helpless child - - much less an unborn one - - I'm usually ready for battle. I think it has a lot to do with my inability to ever get pregnant.

Or it's just good common sense.

Either way.

WalMart at Midnight

What drives me to do things like this? Going to Wal-Mart at ten minutes until 11:00 at night? My dad would flip out. (Mom - - don't tell him that I did that. Okay?)

Being out that late can be unsafe. I know. I had planned on going earlier but we had some company drop by and I couldn't just leave. Plus, my list wasn't quite complete yet anyway.

Also - - they stock then. It's a pain dodging those stocking boxes. The guys doing the stocking are usually friendly and they smile. The women - - not so much.

The mister said I should be able to get in and out in 30 minutes, based upon my list. *He* should have been able to do that. I knew it would take me an hour. So I grabbed my mp3 player and made the best of it. Let me tell you, it's much more fun to buy groceries when you are rockin' out to Aerosmith. I wanted to dance. Bad. If the aisles had been clear, I might have gone for it. Pushing that cart and walking like I was working the runway. Oh yeah. "Ragdoll, Daddy's little cutie..." It was great.

Well, it was great until it was time to pay. One non-express lane open? Are you kidding me? And I wasn't the only one who had late night shopping on the brain. I was the third one in line.

The Mom in front of me, with her *BABY* and maybe seven year old were about to load their stuff on the belt. She was on her cell phone the entire time. She was maybe 25. Maybe. The seven year old did everything. He took care of the baby, unloaded the groceries, picked the baby up off of the floor, everything. She just kept up the yapping. Probably to her next baby daddy. Oh snap! Did I just say that? The baby was screaming and she never missed a beat with that phone conversation. This is when the kid was crawling around on that nasty Wal-Mart floor. I wanted to scream at her to shut up already, pay your freakin' bill and get out of my way. I was tired and wanted to go home. She was still talking on that stupid phone as her kid pushed the cart out of the store. Witch.

In the meantime, the night manager walks up to the man behind me and tells *him* that he can use the "ciggie" lane for non-express stuff after 10:00. Helloooooo? Why wasn't I informed? Yeah. I had an idea. She received a trademark "B" look from me. Some of you are familiar with it. It's the one that my Mom swears is gonna get my arse kicked some day. And just so you know - - that dude that got to switch lanes walked out of that store WAY before I ever dreamed about leaving. Ugh. I was in the check out part about as long as I was in the shopping part.

I'd also like to point out that, as I was leaving, I saw someone park in the handicap spot at midnight. He was *so* not handicapped. He had a new car that I'm sure he didn't want dinged. After I got all of my groceries loaded, I saw him in the store in the express lane. Dude - - not cool. I really wanted to bust you. Where are the ticket writers then? At home in bed, I'm sure. But I think they could really write the tickets late at night. I hate that. Handicap spots are for handicapped people. Period. This irks me.

When I got home, I unloaded the groceries and went in to my room. Everyone was finally asleep. The mister had pulled a muscle in his back and had taken a muscle relaxer. (Just so you know - - the mister NEVER goes to the doctor. Ever. So I know he must have been really hurting to actually go and get some meds.) My point is this: the sleep talker struck again. And he is even funnier on meds. I'm glad the sleep talker made an appearance. I really needed that.

I'm really okay now. Deep breath. Whew!! *giggle*
