Feel even *more* sorry for me...

I am sick. My throat is so completely raw. I can't swallow anything without cringing. I woke up this morning feeling achy.

So - - I've banished myself to my bedroom. I don't need the boys getting this.

Mr. B has been really sweet. He went to the store to get me some supplies this morning. Tylenol Sore Throat - - yes. He even got me some Sucrets that say "Serious Sore Throat Relief." I hope this doesn't keep me down long.

*whimper*

Poor me.

Friday, August 29

Feel sorry for me...

I am SO bummed! SO, SO, SO BUMMED!

Mamma Mia is releasing a sing-a-long version of the movie. It's a re-release of sorts. In select theaters. Not our theater.

It's the same movie, only they have the words to the songs scrolling across the bottom. Everyone in attendance is expected to sing along. Loud. And dance in the aisles. This one is for the die-hard fans. (Like me!) And I WON'T GET TO SEE IT!!! I'd have to go to the Metroplex, San Antonio or Austin to see it.

I actually asked Mr. B if I could go. He was like, "Right, a road trip, costing a couple of hundred dollars (gas, food, movie, etc.) when you've already seen the movie five times. Yeah - - no."

Booooo. Booooooooo!

*sigh*

True Love

Does Mr. B really love *me* or does he love saving money?

It matters not. He bought the last five twelve packs of this fabulous beverage at Albertson's last night. 5 for $12. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mr. B! I was down to my final twelve pack. So - - I'm sitting on six right now. Life is good.

Cameron thinks life is good, too. There was a tiny bit left in mine so I let him have it.

The Closet - - I'm Done

Actually, I've been done for at least a day now. I've just been too preoccupied with other things to pull the pictures off of the camera. I'm really proud of myself. I did it right this time.

I give you - - The Before's:

This is the floor of my closet. Up close and personal.

The is a picture of the whole thing. *quivver*

A little music and some liquid courage...

The After's:

And voila!!

My rainbow of organization! Okay, I have issues. I know that. But admit - - it's easier to find what you are looking for this way.

Now I'd like to congratulate myself on a job well - - done. Now, should a tornado come, I have a place to retreat without having to rip everything out first. I'll just need a safety helmet. There are lots of photo albums and scrapbooks overhead.

Yay me.

Boiled Eggs

This is why I asked: Mr. B likes them cold. He thinks I'm a freak because I like them hot. It almost gags him to think about eating a hot boiled egg. I told him we'd put it to a test and see what the fans think. I was shocked that I was in the minority.

Except for egg salad and as a salad topper - - I totally dig a hard boiled egg, with salt, served hot.

To each his own.

Mr. B - - there you have it.

The Tudors

Anyone watch this? It is on Showtime. I have the first season on DVD and finally started watching it last night. I watched the first four episodes. (I couldn't tear myself away!) I started episode five, but I fell asleep. Wow. Just - - wow. I'm completely fascinated with that era. I'm blown away by the way these girls' fathers pimped their daughters out. For power and prestige. I just can't imagine it.

Anyway, it is really good. And - - kind of naughty.

Fight For Kisses

Our Awesome Outing

Really - - uneventful. I guess the panhandlers must have been sleeping one off. The rest of the freaks were absent as well. It begs the question: were *we* the sideshow at Wally World today? It wasn't too bad. Justin used the word "awesome" no less than 25 times. The Kool-Aid packets were awesome. The chips he picked out for his lunches next week were awesome. The cinnamon donuts he picked out for breakfast were awesome. So was the new shower caddy - - awesome. And don't get me started on the awesome frozen dinner I got him for lunch today. His use of the word was borderline embarrassing. Cameron was - - Cameron. Pissed off because he was restrained in the cart. Kudos to him though. We made our first outing in big boy underwear. Woo hoo. No accidents. Awesome.

Photobucket

Snickerdoodle Ice Cream!!!

Yes - - I get updates from Blue Bell. I'm not sure how I got on their list. I probably subscribed to get something for free one time. That aside - - I get e-mail updates from them. I need to start exercising right now. Because - - I WILL try this. And something deep inside says that I'll LOVE it.
Photobucket

Wish me luck.

I can't put this off any longer. Time to jet.

Here we go...

Okay - - I need to run to Wally World for a few things. I have both kids. This ought to be fun. And worthy of a few stories.

Friendship

What does it mean to you?

Yoda and I have had a couple of conversations about this (although not too many as of late - - I miss you Yoda!) Anyway, we talked about our friendship specifically and how it works for us. We can go weeks, even months without seeing each other. Then one day, we see each other again, and it's like we never lost a beat. We don't feel the need to call each other all the time, etc. It works for us and I like it. Without sounding mean, and I know she doesn't take it this way, I would call this a low-maintenance friendship. Make no mistake, if I were to pick up the phone and tell Yoda that I needed her, she would be here. In. An. Instant. And I would do the same for her.

Then there are friendships that aren't healthy for me. I think we've all been there, done that. Some of those, the friendship actually ended. While I know it was for the better, I grieve the good times we shared. And we certainly shared those. T was with me through infertility, the adoption of both boys, and freaked out with me during bad storms. She made me laugh. A lot. I miss that part of our friendship.

Why am I bringing all of this up? I guess I'm just thinking. Thinking about how many of my friendships have taken a turn in odd directions. Those that I thought would always be rock solid have been completely tested. And some, just not the same ever since.

And now?

Remember the good times, through both laughter and tears. And move on. Be true to myself. Allow that to permeate to my friendships. Be true to them. Be real. I accept that not everyone "gets" me. And that's okay.

Love me for who I am (ugly warts and all) or don't love me at all.

Don't freak out or anything. I'm okay. Just - - thinking. I like to do that occasionally.

My Closet

I don't know where to begin. I'm cleaning out my closet. A real, good, thorough cleaning. A culling, if you will. I've opened up a can of worms that I can't take back.

I'm skeered.

Somebody hold me.

I will post before and after pictures when I'm done.

Back to work.

The Other Boleyn Girl

I finally saw it! And I loved it! I took the DVD over to Angie's house. But first, I stopped off at the movie theater to grab some popcorn. I've never done that before. H says that they sometimes do that. So I thought - - why not? It was delish!

First, let me admit, I didn't read the book. And - - I had only some random knowledge about King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. I don't think the story is completely factual. But that was okay. Lots of movies are done like this. (Take Titanic for instance. I know that story about Rose and Jack isn't true.)

Anyway - - the story was intense. To say the least. There were some pretty passionate scenes in there. *gasp* Like I said - - intense.

The absolute BEST line of the movie:

"By allowing a man to believe they are in charge - - that is the art of being a woman."

~Lady Elizabeth Boleyn (Anne's mother)

Some problems with the movie. There were several holes. "What happened to so & so?" That was the case with like three characters. Then, the movie just ended. I mean, most of us know what eventually happened to Anne. But it was just like *bam* - - end the movie now. I would have liked a little more there.

Overall, it was a great movie. I give it an A-.

(Oh, by the way, I watched Mamma Mia for a fifth time now. I love it a little more each time!)

Confirmation

He did, indeed, need to "take a big dump." I saw it. In the potty. And some on the lid, too.

Good times.

Really?

My three year old just told us that he needs to take a big dump.

O----kay.

Dear Blog Friends

Update your blogs. This is ridiculous. What exactly am I supposed to do with my time on the computer?

*gah*

Streets

Who names them? There are a few out in my neck of the woods that I would seriously *not* buy a house on because I can't pronounce the name of them. The mister and I discussed this tonight. Who gets to name them?

Vexing.

Not very productive

I was easily distracted.

However, I:

- cleaned Cameron's room (I made him "help" me)
- made my bed (finally)
- straightened the counter in my bathroom

I had already cleaned the the tile floors in the entrance hall, kid's bathroom and the kitchen. I *heart* the Floormate.

I'm going to finish cleaning the counters in both bathrooms, clean the litterbox, vacuum the entire house, fold a load of sheets, hang up some clothes in my room and then finish the menu and shopping list.

What was I distracted by earlier? I had recorded Legends of the Fall on the DVR in our bedroom. I stopped and stared at Brad Pitt for a bit. Have mercy, that man is delicious. (Quick, a rag to wipe this spittle running out of my mouth.) *fanning myself*

Okay. Focus, B. Focus.

I might report back after while. Again, I might not. I need to quit farting around and get back to work. I want a nice, clean house for Parent's Night Out. Four hours of no children. Just me and the mister. What to do, what to do? Quality time. That's what I want. I want him all to myself tonight. No fancy dinner out, no grocery store, no cleaning house because the kids aren't underfoot. I just want to spend some time with him.

I predict a Wii tournament of some sort. *giggle* We're silly like that. Any movie recommendations in case we bore of the games? I'm half way interested in watching the Bourne movies all over again. Hmmmm...

Cleaning time!

I need to get some things done before I get back to the computer. At 1:20, the first of a few cleaning challenges will begin. I'll report back in a few.

Thursday, August 21

Hmmmm...

What to say?

Sorry.

I've got nothing.

Perhaps I'll think of something tomorrow.

Ciao.

Today's Devotional - - I had to share.

The Mother I Want to Be

Glynnis Whitwer

“Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.”

Ecclesiastes 7:9 (NIV)

Devotion:

I should have responded better. Patience and kindness would have been a more appropriate response than the unjustified annoyance that laced my tone of voice. In a regrettable moment of anger, I spoke words that left my son sad, and me wishing I could press the rewind button and keep my mouth zipped.

Unfortunately, I often respond better to the bigger challenges of parenting than the everyday frustrations. If you were a fly on my kitchen wall for a one day, you would wonder why a minor event sparked an annoyed response on my part. If your house is like mine, the answer is because that minor event actually happens frequently. Hence, I fall into the “If-I’ve-told-you-once-I’ve-told-you-a-thousand-times” trap of thinking, which doesn’t lend itself to much mercy.

When my patience wears thin, I find myself strikingly similar to the person spoken about in Ecclesiastes 7:9: a fool with a lap of anger. Unfortunately, when that lap is full, it only takes the slightest spark for frustration and anger to spill over onto some unsuspecting victims.

I know God is calling me to deal with this anger in a healthy and godly way. When my spirit is provoked, my first response should be to hold my tongue. While that doesn’t deal with the heart issue, it does keep me from speaking hurtful words that can never be withdrawn. But I can’t leave it there. I must address ongoing parental frustration as a spiritual issue and bring my concerns to God in prayer. I find that as I honestly confess my sin, the door is opened for God to bring His healing peace into my heart.

Anger over injustice is good. Anger over childish behavior isn’t. When I don’t confess my inappropriate anger to God, it just starts building up, making me a fool with a full lap. I’m so glad God offers me forgiveness when I mess up, and puts me back on the path of developing a sweet spirit of patience and gentleness within me. That’s the kind of mother I want to be.

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me in spite of my weaknesses. Thank You for providing a way for me to deal with anger, and to become the kind and gentle woman we both want me to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

M & M's

Do you ever just think about them? Plain *and* peanut.

It could explain why I need to lose a few pounds.

I'm such a stoner...

Stupid, stupid, STUPID kidney stones. It hit at 9:00 this morning. By 9:30, I was miserable. The docs office got me in at 10:40. From there I went to have a CT scan done. Yes, another scan. These stupid stones are going to give me cancer from all of the radiation. I digress. The result: three more stones in my left kidney.

I know.

Are you kidding me? Why me? Why??????

Luckily, the pain in my back has seriously subsided. The worst part for me is when the stone leaves the kidney and goes into the ureter. So - - I'm guessing it has begun it's journey to leave my body. How do I know? I'm peeing blood now. TMI? Sorry. So - - yeah. This is me. I'm basically a granny at 37. My freakin' body is falling apart.

I'll live.

Your job, you ask? Give me a cool nickname. It was Kim's idea. Give me a nickname in the comments section. Any of the comments in the next few days. Then I'll create a poll and you can pick my new nickname. Why do it? Why not? Because somewhere in this, I'm going to have some fun. I might as well involve my fans.

Okay - - I'm out.

Chatting Online

Okay, so I'm a little slow to join this party.

However - - Mr. B says I can use my g-mail account and chat with him. So I sent him an invite to be on my chat list. (Yes, he accepted!) Let me tell you something, it was fun. He is hilarious. I caught myself giggling and smiling a lot. He's so cute. I know a lot of you don't ever see that side of him. He is generally a very private person. You have to really get to know him to see his funny side. I know that side quite well. And I love it when his quick wit kicks in.

*swoon*

I love him.

Home Sweet Home

What a trip! We spent Thursday and Friday at Sea World.. Thursday was kind of a bum haul. Most of the attractions in Lost Lagoon were closed. It seems that most of the lifeguards had to go back to school and there weren't enough left to operate that part of Sea World. We were upset! Justin didn't understand why he couldn't go over to the part where the huge bucket dumps water over you. You could see it, and the bell kept ringing that the bucket was about to dump - - but no go. The slides were closed, too.

As luck would have it, these things were open when we returned on Friday. Whew! Friday was a blast. Cam and I vegged in the shallow end of the wave pool most of the day. Justin and Mr. B rode the two person tube slide like a gazillion times. I rode it once. It was fun. But as you can see, I'm not the most graceful person in the world and I didn't want to subject another soul into seeing me try to get up out of that tube.

Thanks to Mr. B for catching such an attractive shot of me. I wonder what that poor lifeguard was thinking. If you'll notice, I'm such a doofus - - I'm still holding on to the handle. Ugh.
Poor Cam wasn't big enough to ride much.

He was pretty bummed that he couldn't ride this slide. Here he is waiting for Justin and I to come down. So sad...

A question for you: Are your kids or kids you know also completely fascintated with characters in their full costume? Oh. My. Gosh! My kids were downright embarassing. Cameron is completely in love with everyone he encounters. No fear. Just a mushy love-fest. Here he is hugging "Shampoo."

Friday night, we took the boys to Chuck E. Cheese. I'm probably one of the few adults in this world that has *zero* problem with this place. Yeah, so their pizza isn't that great. Who cares? At least you have the option of purchasing it or not! (That's my dig against that dreadful Mr. Gatti's.) I like Chuck's safety measures, too. Both boys went cuh-razy when Chuck himself came out into the gameroom. Here is a picture of Justin hanging all over him.

The funny part was when he asked Chuck if "this was his place." Mr. B and I laughed our rear ends off. Funny boy.

I forgot - - before we went to Chuck's Place that night, we stopped off at my favorite scrapbook store - - Scrapbook 911. I had zero time to shop (boo) but was able to pick up my prize from the RAK on their blog. I won some Making Memories flower stamps. Cool. I could have spent hours in there. Plus - - they were having a crop at the time. It was like pouring salt directly into a wound. I want to crop there sometime. Nice store.

Saturday we took the kids to the Children's Museum. Meh. It was okay. I'm sure there are nicer places to go. The kids had fun. I guess I just expected a little more. When we left there I was determined to catch a glimpse of the Alamo. Let me first say that it was *freaking hot* walking around downtown and I didn't have my SLR camera. At this point, I had sweat dripping from places that just aren't right. This is the best shot I got...

Remember the Crooked Alamo? I told you it was a crappy picture.

Did I mention that it was like Africa hot there?

I've gone on long enough. I'm going to try to put a lot more pictures on our family site tomorrow.
Oh - - btw - - how about that Michael Phelps? Yes, life is good. I'm going to miss watching him swim.

*swoon*

Okay - - I'm seriously gonna jet now. I hope you've had a fantastic weekend.

*smooches*

Stuff

Okay fans. I'm sitting here in my living room. On my laptop. I *so* shouldn't be. I have lots to do. But - - I have a responsibility to my fans. We are leaving for a mini-vacation tomorrow and I didn't want to leave for a few days without checking in with you all first.

We are taking the kiddos to Sea World for a couple of days. Then we are going to hit the Children's Museum in San Antonio. This will be the mister's first trip in my sexy mini-van. I think he will be surprised at how pleasant the trip is. The kids are so easy in the van. They slip their headphones on and *ta-da*, we listen to whatever we want to. It rocks.

One thing I know for sure while we are in San Antonio - - I want to eat at Red Robin. I LOVE their burgers. I want to go to P.F. Changs, but the mister doesn't like taking the kids there. Meh. Oh, oh - - I'm definitely going to Bath Junkie, too. Great times!! I need to go by Bass Pro Shop, too. I need to find some hanging lights for our camper. It's time to pimp that ride. I don't think the mister will balk at stopping there. I will, however, have trouble getting him to go to my favorite scrapbook store. (I won a RAK on their blog the other day!! I have to go claim my prize. Plus - - I've spent enough to have earned a $10 store credit, too. Woo hoo!!)

Okay - - I have much to do. Much. A lot. I'm getting packed, the car loaded and my house in order. I hate coming home to a messy house.

I am taking my laptop with me. I'll try to check in. I think the hotel has Wi-Fi. I'm not making any promises though.

Smooches all around.

Pet Peeve

Not my first one, by any stretch of the imagination, but one of the top five.

Fast forwarders. Not all of them. Specifically those that *never* send me any kind of e-mail to chat with me specifically. I'm talking about the one's that send it to me *and* every person in their entire address book. It annoys the ever-livin' out of me.

I know how she got my e-mail address, too. I gave it out in a group setting and specifically asked that nobody send me any fast forwards. I don't care for them.

I get some from others sporadically. And for the most part, they are okay.

My friends know this.

Those that I never talk to but somehow they feel like we are forward buddies, I ask you this - - have I ever sent you one stinkin' e-mail? Ever? That should be hint number one that I'm not interested. I don't reply to them and I don't reciprocate by sending them to you, too.

IF, you want to send me something, it better be dang funny. If not, I don't want it. If I have to scroll at all, it's too long. I don't want it. If it tells me how to vote or how evil the other side is, I don't want it. I can make up my own mind. I watch the news. If it's a cute angel that tells me happy, touchy-feely thoughts and I better send it to 8000 of my closest friends or my left boob is going too fall off - - I DON'T WANT IT!

Also, if you feel the need to send me something - - that is, me and your entire address book, please learn how to use the BCC feature. Now some of your geeky friends have my e-mail address, too. Thanks.

Whew.

That feels better.

(Before anyone is offended, I'm quite certain that none of you are the offender.)

Sunday, August 10

Did you see it?

Holy heck!!! The U.S. men were by no means, smashed by the "Frenchies." It was an awesome race and right down to the wire. Phenomenal. The mister and I both screamed out loud at their victory. I love that relay. I love, love, love it! I loved seeing them get their Gold medal and the Frenchies get the Silver. Woo hoo!!!

Michael Phelps - - he is now on my list. You know the list. I'm scratching off Tommy Lee Jones because he is so stinkin' old. I like the idea of adding a young lean body to my list. Welcome Michael. Now - - if we could just bump into each other somewhere, we'd be good to go. *wink* Swimmers. That's where it's at.

Let's hope our women's gymnastics team can get their game back on.

Have I mentioned how much I love the Olympics?

Friday, August 8

Very interesting information

DSM Criteria - Narcissistic Personality Disorder

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

  1. has a grandiose sense of self-importance - check
  2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love - check
  3. believes that he or she is "special" and unique - check
  4. requires excessive admiration - check
  5. has a sense of entitlement - check
  6. is interpersonally exploitative - check
  7. lacks empathy - check
  8. is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her - check
  9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes - check
What if they meet all of the criteria?

Ugh.

I'm so glad that Mr. B is a man of integrity. And sane. And *nothing* like the above. I can't even imagine being around someone like this all of the time.

8.8.8

That's today. August 8, 2008. Also, Baby Bro's birthday. What a cool birthday. Happy Birthday, Baby Brother.

It's also the opening ceremony for the Olympics. So cool. I stayed with the show until the U.S. parade of athletes. There was easily another hour or so. I'd had enough. Bring on the competition. Events I'm looking forward to: gymnastics, diving, swimming and basketball. Well, some of the basketball. The U.S. plays China Sunday night. There will be a few other events that I will watch - - hit and miss. I'm pretty pumped.

If you don't know it yet, I'm back from the mountains. The trip home wasn't *too* bad. I only stopped three times to pick up a stylus for Justin's D.S. or pick up Cameron's GameBoy. The fourth time I stopped (unnecessarily) was to retrieve a Yogo from Cameron's nose. Yep, he shoved it up there. For once, these long, gaudy nails of mine proved useful. (I know - - gross.) But look...

That's not a boog. It's a green Yogo. I know, I'm mean. I took a picture first. Report me. I don't care. I got it out...

I really enjoyed my time in the mountains. What did I enjoy most? I had virtually no cell service. I did very little phone talking. I'm not a big fan of just chatting it up on the phone. I'm not in junior high anymore. I believe in saying what you need to say and getting off of the phone. So the break was nice. (I still checked my e-mail though. Of course. Crappy cell service but nice internet connection. Go figure.) I also enjoyed the weather. However, since I don't want another flogging, I shall not speak of the significantly cooler weather anymore. *wink*

I have much more to say, but this has gone on long enough.

Ciao.

File this one under...

...some people just suck.

If you live in the same town as me, all you have to do is read the story on the front page of today's paper.

I am SICK of my husband not getting the recognition he deserves. I am sick of him working his ass off and being brushed aside. I am sick of the way he is treated. They are damn lucky to have him. If it were up to me - - it would be O.V.E.R.

If I ran into the McMillionaire right now - - it would not be pretty.

Don't be fooled by what you read.

Mr. B - - I love you. You deserve so much better than them.

Tuesday, August 5

Today - - I shall be nice.

Good morning fans!

I've decided not to taunt any of you today. 'Cause I love you all and I'm just nice like that! :-)

Perhaps I should tell you about a place to avoid.

Never, I repeat, never go to the McDonald's in Seminole, Texas. It is dirty, nasty, unfriendly, slow and will just overall be a wretched experience for you.

We stopped there on Sunday on our way out here. It was either there or DQ. DQ uses some kind of oil to fry their stuff in that makes me SICK. So Mickey D's it was. One girl was working the counter and she couldn't have moved any slower.

Both kids had to pee first. That bathroom was disgusting. I was freaking out. I have to take both boys in the stall with me. I won't go into any details. I'll just say that their bathroom was not as clean as ours. Little fondling hands on disgusting potty lids, me shouting "GET UP OFF OF THE FLOOR!!"...You get my drift. I'm still a little skeeved out. I'm a lot skeeved out.

We finally ate. Justin and I were done when Cam announces that he needed to poo. You've got to be kidding me. I was tempted to urge him to go in his pull-up. But no. This potty training thing is finally getting somewhere. So I took him. We journeyed back into hell. I think I threw up in my throat a little. We finished, washed up again and got the heck out of dodge.

On our way out of the door, Cam stepped in gum. Right there on the sidewalk right outside the door. Who does this? Was the trash can next to it broken? Yeesh.

Nice.

It was a horrible experience.

We won't be stopping there on the way home.

So see - - I needed a good day on Monday. I'll still leave you alone about the weather. Deal? Hey, maybe San Angelo will get some showers out of the tropical storm that just hit the gulf. We'll cross our fingers.

Okay, my mom is fixing us breakfast. I really should help out.

Have a wonderful day!!

Monday, August 4

Slight Backfire...

It has rained *all* afternoon. It is still drizzling. I'm not being snarky. I'm experiencing "being cooped up with the boys bickering" all day. It hasn't been *all* bad. But seriously, we could really benefit from a little outdoor time.

(Did I redeem myself at all?)

Oh my!!!

The temperature dropped to 57 and there is a thunderstorm rolling through. Not an ugly thunderstorm. The kind you like in the mountains. Ahhh - - I am truly in God's Country.

Oh my gosh!!!

It's up to 74 degrees this afternoon. Whatever will I do? I think I'll go sit back down on the couch and cover up with my down blanket.

*smooches*

Ahhhh...

It is 59 degrees here right now.

Don't hate me!

I'll post more as stuff happens. Right now, I'm aggravated that I can't get my laptop to hit the internet here. It finds the network, but from there - - no interwebs. Great. So - - I'm on the parent's computer. I have to share it.

I've got some things to do. I'll check back in later.

Have a blessed Monday!!
