DSM Criteria - Narcissistic Personality Disorder

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

  1. has a grandiose sense of self-importance - check
  2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love - check
  3. believes that he or she is "special" and unique - check
  4. requires excessive admiration - check
  5. has a sense of entitlement - check
  6. is interpersonally exploitative - check
  7. lacks empathy - check
  8. is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her - check
  9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes - check
What if they meet all of the criteria?

Ugh.

I'm so glad that Mr. B is a man of integrity. And sane. And *nothing* like the above. I can't even imagine being around someone like this all of the time.
