Colton Dixon

I just bought his album on iTunes.  Wow.  LOVE his style.  I'm not going to give in and start watching AI.  Not my thing.  But I will listen to what my peeps suggest for new music.  And this one was spot on with my taste.

Good stuff.

Snarky Mood

Dear Lady on the local consignment Facebook page,

Nobody wants your over-priced, Fisher-Price, garage sale stuff.  Quit bumping it to the top.  Have a garage sale.

Sincerely,
Me and everyone else from San Angelo

ADD

Some doctors just suck.

There's no other way to say it.

Just because he (our now ex-pediatrician) doesn't personally believe in a diagnosis, that is recognized WORLD WIDE, doesn't mean that the condition doesn't exist.

It is not a behavior issue.

He doesn't need to be disciplined.  He doesn't need to be spanked.  (Not for this anyway.)

There should not be a stigma attached to it.

It is real.  We live it every day.

The doctor officially sucks in my book and I will never let him touch either of my children ever again.

I'm so sad that our awesome pediatrician left his practice.  But I understand why he did it.  We had so many good years with him.  And I really could have used his reassuring words and attitude during the past few months.

I'm learning a lot about ADD.  And I feel terrible for not being more proactive before.  I just didn't think it was the issue.  I couldn't have been more wrong.  The important thing is that we are on what seems like the right track now.  Hopefully the tiny human can feel like his life is finally making sense and has some order to it.  We'll see.  I will always be one of his biggest cheerleaders.  And I vow to be his advocate until I take my last breath.

It's not the kiss of death.  It's not the end of the world.  We are dealing with it.

So - - Dr. Sucktastic - - bite me.  Both cheeks.

Happy Moment and Soapbox Moment

It's here!  It's here!  Casi Cielo is here.  IN MY HOUSE!

I'm on my second cup right now.  They even have it in K Cups this year.  Those I plan to stock up on and ration the heck out of.  Like, I might even take my pistol out of the gun safe and put my coffee in there.

Well, I won't do that.  I guess I have to be responsible.  But where to hide my precious coffee?  Hmmmmm.

I didn't watch any of the inauguration stuff yesterday.  Why?  It's not out of hate.  I don't hate President Obama. (I don't particularly like him.)  I hate the direction he's taking and has already taken our country.  But I don't hate him.

Look, I'm about as patriotic as one gets.  And I am glad we live in a country where there's a peaceful transition of power.  (Even though nothing really transferred this time.)  I love to watch anything with pomp and circumstance.  It makes me weepy.  But yesterday - - I just couldn't.  I had zero desire to watch him. It's not that I'm a sore loser either.  I watched his last inauguration.  I was in awe of it.  I was proud that our country could finally put race aside.  But this time, I just couldn't watch.

Keep in mind, I went and listened to Bill Clinton campaign for Hilary.  It was one of the coolest things I've ever done.  I didn't care that I didn't agree with him.  I wanted to be a part of history.  I felt patriotic going to hear him speak.

So don't mouth off and call me unpatriotic because I didn't watch yesterday.  That pisses me off.   I love this country.  I pray for our leadership and for our country.  Not watching yesterday was a choice I made.  If you made the choice to watch, good for you.  And I mean that.  But don't climb up on your high horse and look down on me because I made a choice different from yours.

I'm just saying.

Pinterest Isn't Really Evil

I have to say, Pinterest is a much bigger time suck than Facebook.  I truly believe this.  But, I have to say, how stinkin' brilliant is a virtual bulletin board.  Organization, no clutter, funny, shudder-worthy and helpful.  All wrapped up in one little place.

I've tried a few recipes.  I've had a few of my own personal Pinterest fails.  But let's not dwell on those.

I want to talk about seriously kicking some butt with the help of Pinterest.

Today's subject:  cleaning grout.  When I saw the pin, I re-pinned it.  This morning, I mixed up the ingredients.  And oh mylanta.  It works.  It cleans the grout, y'all.  Seriously.  Water, ammonia, vinegar and baking soda.  I can't believe how gross that grout was.  I haven't finished the kitchen yet.  But when I do, I'm off to do the bathroom.  (Boys, urine, ick.)

Follow me on Pinterest if you're interested.  But just a head's up, sometimes I re-pin some irreverent stuff.  Feel free to follow only the boards that apply.  If you are easily offended, stay away from the following boards:

True Story
Just Funny
Just Say It
What the What?

The rest should be pretty tame.  But if you're in for a good laugh at often immature humor, follow the four boards mentioned above.

Okay, I'd love to stay around and wow you with my cleaning skills.  But I have some grout's ass to kick. Later.

(Yes.  I just said ass.  If you don't like it, you are more than welcome to quit reading here.)

Toodles.

Casi Cielo

I wonder how much longer until my favorite blend comes out. I'm on pins and needles waiting. It's my favorite thing about the new year. I love the smell of a good Guatemalan blend brewing. Mmmmmmmmmm.

Happy Friday!

Fantastic day today.

I started it out with doing day two of week one on C25K.  I should have done it Wednesday, but I didn't.  I can't remember why.  I'm sure I had a lame excuse.  Then there was yesterday.  Not sure why either.  Time got away from me.  This morning, I was like, "Uh, no.  Get your fat butt on the treadmill."  And since I'm a little bit afraid of fat me, I did what I told myself to do.  And let me tell you - - I felt FANTASTIC once I got started.  I made my best time.  Yay me!

I then picked up our exchange students and took them to the bank.  That took a little longer than planned.  It's okay though.

I went to Starbucks because I hadn't had breakfast and my tummy was cursing at me.  Coffee.  Ahhhhhh.  I hadn't been there yet this year.  And yes, we are eleven days into the new year.  I'm pacing myself.  Then I was off to get my nails done.  I couldn't understand a thing he was telling me today.  He must have thought I was a total goon because I kept saying, "Huh?"  I felt like an idiot.  He was nice and asked a lot of questions about my family.  I'm usually not chatty when I'm getting my nails done.  I'd rather get in and out.  And I hate not understanding what they say.  I'd learn Vietnamese.  But really, it would just be for once every 2 - 3 weeks.  And that's just stupid.  I need to learn Spanish.  Because I live in Texas.  And that would make more sense.  I digress.

This is where my day began to kick all kinds of butt.  I met my sister-in-law at the movies to see Gangster Squad.  Holy crap.  I LOVED It.  Oh, it was violent.  Lots of violence.  Lots of guns.  It was brutal.  But awesomely brutal.  Ryan Gosling did not disappoint.  And kudos to Josh Brolin, too.  A couple of doses of yummmmm.  This is a movie I will totally watch again.  My artsy fartsy friends liked Les Mis.  Me?  Give me an awesome action movie any day.  And this one did not disappoint!

The Spurs are headed into overtime right now.  I shall throw my focus on them.  I do love my Spurs!

Tomorrow is Saturday and this I know for sure, I will sleep in.

Goodnight Fans.

Breathe.

My legs feel heavy today and my abs hurt.

Why do my abs hurt?  I jogged.  And walked.  That's it.  This happened last time, too.  I don't think my breathing is right.  I think I tense up when I hit the jogging phase of the program.

I'll test it out tomorrow.

Just breathe.

This applies to a lot of things.  Me needing to just breathe.  Relax and breathe.  Let God have the stuff that is weighing me down.

I've been really worked up for a couple of weeks about something.  I didn't realize how much it had consumed me until I spilled the beans with a friend.  Before I knew it - - the words just started coming out.  My frustrations, my hurt, how much I've been feeling on edge...  I've been incredibly uncomfortable.  Someone distant from the problem gave me some incredible perspective.

And it's this:

God made me for who I am.  He made me to be me.  Not to pretend to be someone else.  Not to conform to who I think others want me to be.  Just be me.  God loves me.  I am free to be me.

It was like the weight was instantly lifted off of my shoulders.  I don't feel "off" anymore.  I feel so much better.

Ahhhhhhh.

Now I can breathe again.

Back to Training!

I started back with Couch-to-5K today.

My body and mind needed this today.  Workout endorphins are the BEST.

I started all over and even switched trainers.  I used the zombie trainer.  Heh.  He wanted to eat my brains.  Not today Mr. Walking Dead.

Here was today's playlist:

Porn Star Dancing
Respect
Talk Dirty to Me
Welcome to the Jungle
Jessie's Girl
The Cup of Life
O Fortuna (Don't judge me.  Try it.)
Free Your Mind

I definitely should have tweaked my playlist before I started.  I'll be doing that later today.  Now, I am going to tackle another one of my goals and go guzzle some water.

Oh yeah - -

Dear Makers of Zyrtec,

Thank you.  I didn't sneeze one time while I was on the treadmill.  You rock.

Love,

B

Mixed Feelings

I got word today that our Mom's column wasn't picked up again for this year.  We got scrapped.  Budget cuts or something like that.  And I totally understand.  It's a shame that our column didn't generate enough "hits" or "comments" to warrant our presence for another year.  I always got tons of compliments here, on Facebook and in person.  Mr. B got them from people he knows, too.  So I think people enjoyed what they read.  At least I hope so.

I'm sad that it's ending.  I'm not sure if I'll receive anymore freelance offers from them.  I'd like to think I will.  But who knows?

I guess it's a signal that it's time to move on.  I have some big dreams and big plans.  And I've felt the pull, stronger than ever, to move forward.  Starting from scratch.  Sort of.  But putting the wheels into motion now.  It's like my hand was forced.  Perhaps a larger audience is in my future.

All I can do is try.

So that's where I am.

Thanks Standard Times for the opportunity.  You took a chance on an unknown writer.  And I was very blessed by it.

Onward and upward I go.

Productivity

I just cleaned out my inbox and balanced my checkbook.  Like a boss.

Later today I plan on actually getting dressed and putting on make-up.  *gasp*  I know.  Insanity.  I haven't had make up on in a couple of weeks.  My skin is thankful.  But I wonder if Mr. B is.  He says he doesn't care.  But I kind of want to look pretty today.  Not sure why.  For me?  For him?  For us?  Who knows?

Laundry next.  Yee-haw.

Reality Check

Sometimes it's the little reminders to be grateful. I was headed back to work from my lunch break. I sat in the parking lot in my car fo...
