Oh yeah!!!

Spurs 92 - Suns 87

The Spurs fininshed off the Suns in Round One. They beat them four games to one. Excellent. It was a nail biter!!

Also...

Hornets 99 - Mavericks 94

Dallas went down in flames. They are out. Buh-bye Mavs.

Yes - - that puts the San Antonio Spurs playing the New Orleans Hornets. NO has home court advantage. That could be bad.

Good thoughts. Good, positive thoughts.

When is game one of round two, you ask? Saturday. That's right. On National Scrapbook Day.

Crap.

No words.

I know a woman who probably didn't think a second thing about kissing her husband goodnight last night.

I know a woman who is probably replaying the last few tender moments they spent together yesterday. Laughing, loving, cutting up on each other.

I know a woman who curled up on the hospital bed next to her husband this morning. She gently placed her head on his chest.

I know a woman who had to tell her four children this afternoon that their father left this life all too early.

I know a woman who is now a widow.

I know I am a woman who takes it all for granted. Each day given to us is one more than we deserve.

My heart breaks for her.

Big hugs to you J-O. My prayers are with her and the kids.

Kirby

If it sounds too good to be true - - it probably is.

Here is how my *anniversary* afternoon (and evening) went.

The door bell rang. I got a little tingly, thinking, "Could it be? Really? Flowers? No way!"

Well, it wasn't. I should have known better. Mr. B does NOT send flowers. It is out of his realm of reasonable. Now a new laptop, that's reasonable. But flowers that die? No. I digress.

It was one of those door to door people. He was handing out coupons and telling me about a new Kirby Vacuum business that was opening up. He asked for my name and phone number. He said that I'd only get a phone call if I won one of the daily prizes they were giving away. No sales calls. He was a sweet guy, in his twenties, and I fell for him. Primarily because he had a handicap. He stuttered real bad. I knew it was hard for him to get out any kind of sentence and I kind of felt sorry for him. He was trying really hard and I knew that his job sucked. So - - I threw him a life line. No sales calls anyway. Right? What could it hurt?

Fast forward to 6:35 p.m. Mr. B is home and we are trying to wrangle the Things. Life was kind of hectic. The phone rang. Guess what? I won a daily prize! (Exclamation point for my emphasis - - and theirs.) Well, cool. I won a set of steak knives. Did I want 2 or 4? Ummm - well four please. (Duh.) Also, I get to have two rooms in my house shampooed for free. Which two rooms did I want done?

*insert sounds of crickets chirping here*

This is where I should have listened to my inner voice. The one that has *never* failed me. The one that tonight I told to shut up.

I told her to hang on, I needed to ask my husband which rooms.

He knew what the gig was. He told me it was my choice if I wanted to do it. Dang him. Why didn't he just tell me to back off? I was convinced I really won something. I was special. (Yeah, me and 16 other households in the area.)

I get back on the phone and told her the living room and the dining room. "Great," she says, "will you be there at 7:30 for someone to drop the knives by?"

"Tonight?"

"Yes, and it will only take her about 35 minutes to do the carpet. And by the way, you'll love the steak knives. They *never* need sharpening. They are the *best* steak knives!"

At this point my inner voice is now yelling at me in Spanish. Probably cursing at me. I shushed her. Again. I think it pissed her off. Because I didn't hear from her again until much later in the evening.

"Okay," I said. "We'll see her then."

Now to break the news to the Mister. He took it better than I thought. He didn't' want me home alone with anyone we didn't know anyway. Whew. I guess he *does* love me.

They didn't show up until 8:00. Some man in a Hummer dropped off a 19 year old girl with a Kirby vac, in a box. Great. She said something about setting it up for the demo. I felt every ounce of color drain from my face. I couldn't even look at Mr. B. I knew he was laughing his butt off. No sales call my ass. It was every bit a sales call. It's Kirby for crying out loud.

It took her twenty minutes to assemble it.

Forty minutes to vacuum my living room. (You know, because my Dyson isn't good enough. She kept opening up the black rag and showing me all of the filth and pet dander. Over and over again.) She kept saying that she had to get it really, really clean because when she shampooed it, she didn't want to create mud on my carpet.

Somewhere in the conversation she started talking about dust mites. OMG!! Freaked me out. She said something about how they take a crap on your face during the night and stuff. What? This makes me want to buy this machine?

I'm going to make this longer story short.

At 10:00. She was finally packed up and on her way out of here. Without us buying a Kirby. I never had any intentions of buying one. Why? I was told it wasn't a sales call. I also already own a vacuum cleaner. A good one. And if I'd vacuumed recently, there might not have been as much mite crap to pick up.

On her way out of the door, I had to ask for my freaking steak knives. I only got two. She said they didn't have enough and they'd have to bring two more by today if I wanted them. No thanks. Please don't ever come to my house again.

Happy Anniversary Honey.

I fell for the oldest trick in the book.

After I apologized to him, and let him laugh at me, I kicked myself in the ass. I'm still begging for forgiveness from my inner voice. She told me I was an idiot and she'd reconsider future negotiations with me. I hope she doesn't leave me. I need her.

If the Kirby people come to your door, wave them off. It's *so* not worth it. $2100 for a vacuum cleaner? Just say no.

Happy Anniversary, Mister B

Today marks our 8th wedding anniversary. I never thought he'd do it. I didn't think Mr. B would ever get married. Much less to me. I still remember how cold his hands were when the minister (my brother) asked us to join hands and repeat our vows to each other. They were ice cold.

I'm so glad he married me. I'm glad I married him.

I love you, D.

Now - - if only we were headed to the beach again. Ahhh....

*giggle*

My day just got a little better.

I just laughed my butt off as Jason Kidd got ejected from the game. He committed a flagrant foul. It was flagrant for sure.

The Mavericks are about to lose at home and go down in their series 3 - 1. New Orleans will most likely win this series. The winner of this series plays the winner of the Spurs/Suns series.

Mark Cuban does *not* look happy.

Bwahahaha!!!

Good call bringing in Jason Kidd. Nice move, Mr. Cuban.

*insert more evil laughing here*

I nearly peed my pants.

Ouch...

A horrific defeat this afternoon. That's all I have to say about that.

Here's to finishing off the Suns in San Antonio at 8:30 on Tuesday.

Saturday, April 26

Say it Loud!!!

With the help of Tony Parker's career-high 41 points, the Spurs knocked off the Suns 115-99 in Phoenix to take a 3-0 series lead. Parker also had 12 assists while Tim Duncan added 23 points and 10 rebounds. San Antonio can close out the series Sunday.
Is it time to get my broom out? Time to, oh, I don't know. Sweep?

The Results

I did not get done anywhere *near* enough. However, I...

* picked up some junk that was scattered around;

* took out the bathroom trash and the kitchen trash;

* emptied and re-loaded the dishwasher;

* wiped down the kitchen counters;

* ran cleanser through the disposal;

* stripped the sheets off of my bed and took them to the laundry room;

* and was totally distracted by the phone.

I've got to get back to work. Stupid internet. It is a time-sucking, vortex of wasteland.

30 Minute Challenge

Because I don't want to re-set the timer at 15 or 20 minutes...

I'm taking 30.

I'm going to see how much housework I can get done in 30 minutes. I'll post back and let you know.

I'm off!!!

Question

I have a question for my fellow bloggers. Does the whole "Six Degrees" thing freak you out? At all?

In my blog surfing tonight, I realized I was linked on a blog. No problem. But I realized that someone else was linked on there as well. Someone I didn't expect. And it hit me like a ton of bricks. I know that I hit the sites on those sites, and so on and so on. It made me wonder. Who has found me? It made me realize that there are just certain things I can't complain about on here.

More paranoia ensues.

Don't worry. I won't change my address again. I am me. In my own way, I don't care. About what people think about me. I mean, I guess I do. Deep down. But my kids and my husband. I do care about what people think about them.

Gah.

Crap.

He just wants to be loved...

A Child Needs...

We are products of our environment it is said
and from birth through life we are variously led
From infancy to childhood others are in charge
When you are little, others seem rather large.

A child needs benevolent and respectful care
As well as being taught to love and play fair.
If a child is taught to respect God and others
He will love himself and likewise his brothers.

Whether our childhood was nurturing or not
Comes the time when we must deal with our lot
The decisions we make will color our future
And show what we're made of as we mature.

If victory is to be won, it's upon God we trust
Knowing, loving and serving Him well we must.
Getting through life is hard enough we all know
Traveling with the Lord is the only sure way to go.

Guide the little ones in the ways of the Lord
So they, too, will praise Him, and to Him accord
All Honor, All Glory, and All Adoration
hearts full of joy and expectation,
toward the day of eternal jubilation
and
infinite exaltation.

I'm sorry for being so cryptic. My heart breaks tonight for a little boy who just wants to be loved.

Know this - - I would fight to the death for my children. That's the difference.

Interesting, isn't it? I fought so hard to bring a child into this world - - biologically. And it wasn't in the cards. I'd have given anything for it. I know of others who would give anything for it. Then there is him. Little Boy Lost. Caught in the middle.

*sigh*

Hang in there Little Man.

Reality Check

Sometimes it's the little reminders to be grateful. I was headed back to work from my lunch break. I sat in the parking lot in my car fo...
